Hi Michael,

ML> have. > Pays your money, takes your choice.
ML> Last time I didn't do it until it was paid for by
ML> United. No doubt even if they don't reimburse me
ML> next time I'll cave even with the diminished travel.
We've done similar from time to time with various things, then dropped
them the next time they had to be renewed. Very often when we go to
Sam's Club or Costco, a young person will be near the electronics
section and ask what cable system we use, hoping to get us to change to
whateve's being touted. We just say we have an antenna, with no interest
in changing--and usually get a "come out of the dark ages" look which we
ignore and move on. (G)

ML> That would have been funny except that it wouldn't.
Agreed, but that shows how easy it is to be mistaken.

ML> Potato peelings probably wouldn't even do pruno
ML> any favors.
Our family generated lots of them since Dad liked mashed potatoes with
meat and another side veggie for every supper (or Sunday dinner) except
if it was spaghetti or other, similar sort. With 5 kids, we went thru a
lot of potatoes. Interestingly, Mom always put the peelings in the
trash, even tho we had a compost pile near the one garden. Steve and I
started composting when we bought this house, keeping a bucket near the
kitchen sink. We've recycled before but this is the first time we've
seriously kept a compost bin (The yard has benefitted from it.) in many
years.

ML> > If it works, great! Of course some stringed instruments only have 2
ML> or 3 > strings, easier to pluck/play with a hand that's missing
ML> fingers than > say a harp.
ML> Some stringed instruments have only 1!
It's all in the fingering of it then.
ML> > ML> as you might expect: what? you've got to be nuts.
ML> > Some parents are like that, others will push for every opportunity

ML> The guy probably would have made a good lawyer or
ML> businessman as well, but he had his vision, and he

He did well for himself--very determined.
ML> > ML> Your carbohydrate issues have affected your habits.

ML> taken home. With pasta (the context of this
ML> conversation) it's quite variable - a good thin al

Also depends on the sides; very often if we're eating out, especially at
an Italian restaurant, I'll start with a salad. That's a lot lighter in
carbs and helps so I don't fill up on pasta & bread.

Depends on the saucing with the thick pasta but if it's overcooked,
especially white, it's probably not worth saving.
ML> thing, though, is that a gross gloppy pasta might
ML> be salvaged by a heavy frying until it gets crunchy
ML> on the outside - that might improve the glycemic
ML> load as well.
Now that sounds like a good idea.
ML> > ML> eyes I notice some fresh-looking cracks in the pavement.
ML> > Really fresh, as in the last few days? Probably the earthquakes you

ML> There are old ones, recent ones (the ants have taken
ML> advantage of the cracks to build their cities), and
ML> new ones (no ants or vegetation yet). The new ones are
ML> quite new.
Probably from the most recent quakes--keep half an eye on them.
ML> > ML> Bialys

ML> It's the onions.
Probably so. (G)
