[chuckle] I wonder if it would have been
more difficult to give up if you'd been
accustomed to good wine!

The whole point of bacon is extra
saltiness. One in my condition has to
assess how much is tolerable.
> find some that's not 99% fat.
That wouldn't bother me a whole lot.
Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a tiny bit,
but then so were you.
> ML> > Not fun!
> ML> Well, the unfun part is the fear of a

> That could be a major concern. AFAIK, salt doesn't affect either Steve
Yes: on the whole I'd rather be run
over by a truck, but that's unlikely.
> or me; we just chose to keep our intake at a lower level.
Shenk also used to say that.
> IOW, the news media are making worse of a situation than actually
> exsists for that area?
Yes and no. It's one of the jobs of the
news media, the most profitable one, to
make people worry. Whether the worry is
justified, that's a completely
different issue; also whether the tv's
attribution of the source of the concern
is at all accurate.
In this case, everybody seems to be
focusing on LA, which has a quite
different demographic with its own set
of problems.

> ML> These things happen, don't they,

I have been known to do that, but then I've
ordered an about 18-ozer in anticipation.
Now, we've a portion control expert in the
kitchen, and I give us what I think we'll
eat. Last night, 6 oz for each of us, and
a monster baked, twice as big as the meat,
for her.
> bit different; we went over to Texas Roadhouse for dinner after church.
> I had a 10 oz rib eye, baked potato, tossed salad and roll--ate it all.
She ate about that many calories, and I was
somewhere between astonished and gratified
(sometimes it takes a bit of effort to get
her to eat a proper meal); I used to think
it amusing when she said that she got most
of her calories from red wine, but now that
I see it's true, it's my mission to get some
actual nourishment into her.
> But, I'd had an early (light) breakfast and we just had a light supper

I rather miss TR; used to be the best
chance at a properly done steak without
paying through the nose, but now there's
Costco, which has the additional advantage
of being open.
> ML> At Bonnie's I'd make preserves, because she

Buys.

> Until you go to get something out of the freezer. (G)
I delegate! Though today I'm going to get
some corn out, and later some Rocky Road.
